One of the best parts about staying at Imperial Inn at Great Falls, Montana is that you’re within walking distance of many of the most popular attractions in the city. Whether you feel like getting outdoors, biking, skating, hiking, or visiting the water park, or you feel like taking it easy, going to a museum, seeing a broadway play, or sitting in the park, Imperial Inn is in walking distance of it all! We’ve created a list of some of the places you might want to visit while staying with us, all of which are about a mile or less walk from the hotel. Gibson park is the premiere park in Great Falls, Montana. And while staying at the Imperial Inn you’ll be only half a mile walk away from this beautiful park with a multitude of amenities. Simply walking around this spacious park you’ll enjoy lush flower gardens, a pond with ducks, geese, and swans, and stained glass art reflecting the park.
If you feel like being more active there are basketball courts, playground equipment, and ice skating on the pond (weather permitting). The park also offers a walking path which is perfect for bike riding, rollerblading, and running. And if you prefer to move at a slower pace, it connects to the River’s Edge Trail which is a great place to go hiking.
Being outdoors is what Great Falls is all about, why not make a day out of it? Gibson park has picnic areas where you can stop to eat, the Historic Vinegar Jones Cabin, and even an outdoor concert hall with performances during the summer.
Voted the best trail in Great Falls, this is a great way to get started on your Montana outdoor adventure. You can access the trail at Gibson Park (only 0.5 miles from the hotel) and it follows the Missouri River across the entire length of Great Falls. It’s an easy, flat trail which is great for walking, running, or biking.
Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art
Down the road from Gibson Park (and only 0.7 miles from the hotel) is Great Falls’ Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art. This art museum offers regular art exhibitions to the public as well as a large array of Montana’s greatest art pieces. It’s a great place to visit if you’re interested in expanding your knowledge or art, or to indulge in your love for it. Located in the historic Paris Gibson Square building.
Community Recreation Center
At only a 0.2 mile walk from the hotel, the Great Falls Community Recreation Center is a great place for the entire family. Their facilities include a fitness center, basketball, cafe and much more. The center is open everyday except Sunday and can be a great way to stay active.
The Mansfield Center for Performing Arts
Located at the front of the Great Falls Civic Center, the Mansfield theater is only 0.6 miles from the hotel and hosts a variety of top tier performances. It’s fitted to accommodate concerts, ballets, grand operas, road shows, bands, musicals, stage productions, comedians and more. The theater as brought performances such as the Broadway musical, Mama Mia, the band, The Beach Boys, and performers such as Brian Regan, Daniel Tosh, and Mike Epps.
Children’s Museum of Montana
Located 0.7 miles from the hotel in Great Falls, the Children’s Museum is a great place to bring the kids to have fun and expand their minds. The museum features hands-on exhibits and educational programs from children ages 4 months to 11 years. Let your kids explore science, art, history, culture, technology, and health in an interactive and friendly environment. They also offer special activities such as LEGO Club from 3pm – 5pm on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month!
Electric City Water Park
Less than a mile walk from the hotel is Great Falls’ own water park! Bring the whole family and slide down there 20’ slides: the Power Tower Plunge. Not a thrill seeker? Relax in the lazy river, play in the largest heated outdoor swimming pool in Montana, or take the kids to the Splashing in the Squirt Zone. They also have their own Flow Rider, where you can learn how to surf or body-board while in Montana! They also offer Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, and even Beer Barons.
C.M. Russell Museum
Ranked #2 on TripAdvisor’s Top Attractions in Great Falls the C.M. Russell Museum is only a 0.8 mile walk from the hotel. Here you can tour C.M. Russell’s original studio, the home where he lived, and see the largest collection of his paintings. It would be a shame to visit Montana and not see one of the finest American Western Art Museums in the country. The 70,000 square foot museum showcases a collection of more than 12,000 objects attributed to C.M. Russell as well as O.C Seltzer, Winold Reiss, J.H. Sharp and E.E. Heikka, E.I. Couse, Olaf Wieghorst, Henry Farny, and Frank Tenney Johnson
Holiday Village Mall
This is one of the top shopping locations in Great Falls. Originally built in 1957, today this 2-story mall is anchored by stores such as JCPenny, Herberger’s, and Scheels All Sports as well as over 60 name-brand store, specialty boutiques, restaurants, and service providers. At only 1.2 miles from the hotel, it’s a quick drive or walk when you’re in need of some shopping time.
